NOVEMBER 2008

CSK TIGER LILY x CSK MERLOT We are really excited about this cross. 7/8 Boer doe. Tiger Lily is a mostly red paint daughter out of CSK Blossom and Salsa. Merlot’s a red fullblood Tubby son out of Lil Red. We’re combining our two most productive bloodlines here. Tiger Lily’s grandma has had a total of 23 kids so far.

CSK SOLSTICE x CSK MERLOT. Solstice is a 7/8 red headed daughter out of black-headed CSK Mocha and Salsa. This is a nice solid, well built doe. We’re crossing her to red fullblood CSK Merlot.

CSK SILVER CHARM x CSK MERLOT Charm is a 3/4 Boer doe out of very productive Silver (23 kids and counting). Charm’s out of red purebred Salsa and has been bred to red fullblood CSK Merlot, son of Tubby and Lil Red. Another great cross, I think and she’s for sale.

TALISMAN RHODESHA x CSK HEATH We’re not sure this is going to happen, but we’re crossing our fingers. Rhodesha is an original Canadian import and getting up there in years. She didn’t settle last year, but we’re hoping with the right buck buddy, she might make it this year. She’s a long fancy traditional doe and a daughter of Permanent Champion Talisman Frisco. Heath’s a dark red purebred buckling out of red purebred Salsa and tri-colored CSK Twix (carrying Tubby and 7A+ lines).

CSK RED QUEEN x HACKBERRY HILL SALSA Queenie’s a huge red fullblood doe of Tubby and Lil Red. This is what red animals should look like! She’s also an excellent momma. We’re looking forward to these offspring.

CSK LILAC x CSK GRENDEL We’re not sure this cross is going to take for a December kidding as Grendel’s a young buck but we’re hopeful. Grendel is a traditional marked purebred quadruplet out of the huge doe CSK Spice (deceased) and Adrian (Starbuck lines). Lilac’s a purebred traditional doe bred up on our farm from a black and white spotted Nubian. Lilac heralds from the Silver/Blossom bloodline. Very long, very elegant.

CSK SCARLET x CSK MERLOT Scarlet’s a red fullblood doe, nicely built and an excellent mother. We’re breeding her to red fullblood Merlot, a Tubby son, in hopes of carrying on the Tubby legacy.

CSK BLUSH x SALSA Blush is a traditional marked registered fullblood doe and daughter of 7A+ Prospector. Salsa is a registered red purebred. Babies will be registered purebreds.

CSK FROST x CSK MERLOT Frost’s a silver 1/2 Boer 1/2 Angora doe, one of our biggest percentage does on the farm. She’s out of old Lacey and 7A+ Sagebrush. Merlot is a red fullblood son of Tubby and Lil Red. Very excited about this cross.

CSK COOKIE x SALSA Cookie’s a registered 1/2 Boer 1/2 mutt with a roan body and dark face. We’ve done this cross before and it turned out really well (and added some color to boot!)

CSK LATTE x SALSA We’ve done this cross twice now and loved the look every time. Latte’s a chocolate purebred doe out of Tubby and Never Done Anne. Salsa’s a red purebred buck.

CSK TWIX x SALSA Also a repeat cross. Twix is a tri-colored purebred granddaughter of 7A+ Sagebrush with lines going back to Tubby and Never Done Anne. She’s a persnickety doe and we threaten her with expulsion from the herd every year if she doesn’t produce. Every year she keeps getting better. Looks like she’s a keeper. Salsa’s a red purebred buck.

CSK COPPER x SALSA Again, a repeat cross. Last year’s babies were thick, red, meaty animals. Copper is a registered red 1/2 Boer 1/2 Angora, out of a black Angora doe and Tubby. Salsa’s a red purebred buck.

CSK BLACK ICE x SALSA Black Ice is a registered silver 1/2 Boer 1/2 Angora doe out of Lacey and Tubby. If you stood her side by side with Frost, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. That’s how Lacey makes her kids. Ice kidded last year with traditional marked twins (being bred to a traditional marked buck). Looking to see what she can do with Salsa.

CSK ROSEBUD x SALSA Rosebud is an elegant 7/8 paint doe of CSK Blossom and Tubby. She kidded this year with two l-o-n-g kids. Looking forward to seeing what she and Salsa can produce.

CSK BUTTONS x SALSA. Another daughter of old Lacey and Tubby, Buttons is a registered apricot colored 1/2 Boer 1/2 Angora. This is a very stocky young doe and will rival Frost some day. Salsa’s a red purebred buck—last year this cross produced a chunky red doeling.

CSK FAWN x SALSA Fawn is a registered 1/2 Boer 1/2 Toggenburg doe. She looks just like a Togg except is thicker in the leg and her ears are quite a bit bigger. Fawn has a beautiful symmetrical black udder and produced a bright coppery colored kid last year from this same cross.

CSK ATHENA x SAMIR—Athena is a traditional marked fullblood doe out of Lil Red and Tubby. She threw quads the first time she freshened. This is a wide-bodied, productive doe taking after her mother. We’re breeding her to Samir, a young black Angora buckling. Yep—we know we won’t be able to register the offspring, but we want to see what this will produce.

SILVER x CSK HEATH—Yep, Silver is still producing. 23 kids and counting. Silver’s a big bodied 1/2 Boer 1/2 Nubian doe out of a black and white spotted registered Nubian. Heath’s a huge dark red purebred buckling out of Salsa and CSK Twix.

CSK BLOSSOM x CSK MERLOT—Blossom’s a registered paint 3/4 Boer 1/4 Nubian doe out of Silver and 7A+ Sagebrush. Her kids are always gorgeous and we attribute that partially to her heavy milking. We’re breeding her to CSK Merlot, a red fullblood son of Tubby and Lil Red. Combining our two most productive lines here—very excited about this cross.

MARCH 2009 (In Planning Stage)

CSK BLACK PEARL x SALSA —We did this cross last year and got two black 3/4 Boer doelings. Black Pearl is a registered black 1/2 Boer 1/2 Angora out of a registered black Angora doe. Her sire is Tubby.

BETTY x MERLOT—Betty’s a registered red Angora doe. She freshened for the first time with triplets. This is a beautiful doe and excellent mother. We’re breeding her to Merlot, a red fullblood son of Tubby and Lil Red.

MIDNIGHT x MERLOT—Midnight’s a registered black Angora doe. She’s produced several thick bodied percentages for us—Black Beauty, Bronze, Copper, and Pearl to name a few.

SHADOW x MERLOT—This is a another registered black Angora doe. An excellent mother, she threw us a stocky black kid the size of her already.

SILHOUETTE x MERLOT—Our third registered black Angora doe, Silhouette also produced a fast growing black kid last year.
